Who was Frank Collett?
Frank Collett worked as the Chief Valuer for the
R & I
Bank before coming to Esperance in 1960.
He was seconded from the R & I Bank to be the
personal
representative for the Minister of Agriculture to advise on and develop
the Esperance Plains.
Mr Collett induced the Government to introduce the
Grass Plains Development Loan, an $11,000 grant to help farmers get
their property under pasture.
Mr Collett has often been quoted saying
"Esperance
would become one of the major agricultural areas of Australia".
Our library was named in honour of Mr Collett due to
his tremendous faith in the agricultural potential of Esperance and his
efforts to advance it in the 1960's.
